On March 14 by the initiative of analytical laboratory “FDA Laboratory” LLC a round table on “Export orientated assessment of needs of fish producers” was held.
The participants of the meeting were:
- Representative of EU delegation
- Chief specialist of State Service for Food Safety of Ministry of Agriculture of RA
- Representative of National Institute of Standards
- Representative of UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization)
- Head of Armenian Society of Food and Technology
- General Managers of large fish producers in Armenia
Within the framework of the meeting the main problems of the fish producers were discussed:
- The obstacles to development in fish industry
- The main export requirements of EU market
- The role of state structures
- The possible support of international organizations
- The role of laboratories as an important link in the development of the industry.
Within the framework of the round table a heated and at the same time a very productive discussion followed. Nowadays the fish production is one of the potential fields but for this or that reasons it is not in the EU market yet.
One of the participants of the meeting the general manager of “Father and son Buniatyans” noted in his speech: “We have gold, but we don’t know how to sell it”.
The aim of the meeting was to find answers to these questions and to understand the absence of which component of the value-chain of the fish production hinders the development of the field.
The participants expressed their gratitude for the organization of such a meeting and their confidence that in such a working environment, when all interested parties gather at a round table, indeed answers to many exicting questions can be found.
If we have fish and there is a demand of it in Europe, so why not to support the producers to export their products to EU?
