The "Pharmaceutical Industry Value Chain" worldwide CALIDENA workshop was place in Armenia from May 31 to June 2, 2023.
The main goals of CALIDENA, which is being implemented by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Germany, are to:
- increase public awareness of the quality infrastructure for pharmaceutical products,
- encourage communication and collaboration between the quality infrastructure and the private sector,
- identify quality gaps and improvement needs related to drug manufacturing,
- and develop an action plan to address identified gaps in accordance with industry needs.
The workshop was accepted in Armenia by the "Scientific Center of Drug and Medical Technology Expertise after Academician E. Gabrielyan" CJSC and the "Drug Manufacturers Union of Armenia" NGO.
Representatives from the RA Ministry of Economy, the RA Ministry of Health, the quality infrastructure, pharmaceutical firms, and foreign organizations, including representatives from the "FDA Laboratory" LLC, an internationally accredited laboratory, attended the workshop.
A special visit to the "Drug Quality and Bioequivalence Analysis Laboratory" of "FDA Laboratory" LLC was arranged as part of the workshop. During this visit, participants learned about the activities of the lab and the services offered, particularly the execution of bio-sample tests in bioequivalence studies, and they also had the chance to take a cognitive tour.
The organization and implementation of international events with comparable sound and popularity are undoubtedly a great incentive and opportunity to develop and spread the culture of drug quality and the development of the infrastructure for drug production in our nation, and the internationally accredited "FDA Laboratory" LLC, as a pioneer in the field, is always prepared to ensure its participation and support in the implementation of bio-sample tests in bioequivalence studies, and promoting a culture of quality in value chain initiatives.
